Fire claims the lives of two dogs and a cat
Although the detached house that caught fire was opposite the fire station, nobody noticed the smoke.
A sad incident occurred on Thursday evening in Eltendorf in the district of Jennersdorf in southern Burgenland. A fire broke out in a detached house for unknown reasons. Although the house is opposite the fire station, nobody noticed the smoke at first because no one was at home.
Pets fell victim to the fire
It was only when the family's son came home at around 5 p.m. that he discovered the fire and immediately alerted the emergency services. Within a very short time, six fire brigades were deployed to extinguish the fire. The police and Red Cross were also on site.
No one was injured. However, two dogs and a cat that were in the house at the time of the fire could unfortunately only be recovered dead.
