Europark case
No consequences for former state deputy Schellhorn
After years of investigations, it is now clear for the second time: Heinrich Schellhorn (Greens) did not exceed his powers when he vetoed the Europark expansion. This was confirmed by the public prosecutor's office.
The investigation into suspected abuse of office against former state deputy Heinrich Schellhorn has now been finally closed. Ricarda Eder from the Salzburg public prosecutor's office confirmed this to the "Krone". The legal justification for this: "There is no indication of the required knowledge of an abuse of authority."
In other words: Schellhorn did not exceed his powers as a provincial deputy when deciding against the expansion of Europark in 2021. This is precisely what the Spar Group, the owner of the shopping center, had accused him of. In 2022, the public prosecutor closed the investigation for the first time.
This was followed by an application for continuation by the group, which was accepted by the court. The public prosecutor appealed against this, failed and reopened the investigation. These investigations ended with the same result: no evidence of criminal liability.
However, this should now be the final straw - unless a new application is made. By the way: the Europark is now being extended anyway - thanks to the black-blue government.
