Fraudster took bills from 89-year-old’s wallet

Many scammers have long since taken their criminal energy to the digital expanses of the Internet, but there are still some analog criminals out there. One struck on Wednesday in Carinthia.

The perpetrator lay in wait for his potential victims outside a financial institution. When an 89-year-old man stepped outside, he was approached by the fraudster. "The stranger asked for change," reported the police. "With the victim's consent, he took coins from his wallet."

But during the "exchange", the cheeky conman pulled several bills out of the elderly gentleman's wallet. "The bills had a total value of more than 1000 euros," said the police. "The victim only noticed the theft hours later." The 89-year-old's only option was to go to the police to file a complaint. The investigation is ongoing.
