Shots fired at Weißensee: Cobra flown in by helicopter

Major alarm at the otherwise idyllic Weißensee! After several shots were fired, the Cobra task force flew in.

A frightening police call on Tuesday evening in the district of Spittal an der Drau: according to a conscientious caller, several shots had been fired in the municipality of Weißensee in Gantschach. Several police patrols, including a sniffer dog, were immediately alerted and raced to the suspected location. The Cobra special task force was also called out as a precaution.

And in order to bring the specialists to the Weißensee as quickly as possible, the FLIR police helicopter stationed at Klagenfurt Airport even took off with the heavily armed officers on board. Naturally, a Cobra "excursion" never means anything good-in this case, however, the mission at least had one positive aspect: fortunately, the uniformed officers were quickly given the all-clear during the patrols on site!

Operation ended without live rounds
As it turned out, the shots were not aimed at a victim - they had been fired out of pure joy. A new father had fired several shots from a gas cannon to celebrate the birth of his child in keeping with tradition. Much ado about nothing - at least from a criminal law perspective. The new father was reported in accordance with administrative regulations and the operation ended without any live rounds being fired.
