“Super Tuesday”: Swift calls on fans to vote
Pop icon Taylor Swift has launched an election appeal for "Super Tuesday" in the USA. The singer has enormous influence and called on her fans to get informed.
"I wanted to remind you to vote for the people who represent you the most," the 34-year-old wrote in an Instagram story on Tuesday. "If you haven't planned to vote yet, do it today."
Swift urges fans to go vote
This Tuesday, Republicans and Democrats are holding intra-party primaries in more than a dozen US states-including Tennessee, where Swift has long been a resident.
The votes are about the question of who should be the candidate in the presidential election at the beginning of November. For the Democrats, incumbent Joe Biden wants to run again and has no serious competition within the party. Former President Donald Trump is the clear favorite among the Republicans.

"Whether you live in Tennessee or anywhere else in the US, find out about your polling places and times," Swift continued, adding a link to a non-partisan website that provides information on US elections.
The singer is hugely influential among her fans and has around 280 million followers on Instagram. Conspiracy theories about Swift recently gained momentum in right-wing circles because she backed Biden before the 2020 presidential election and has since repeatedly urged her fans to vote.
