110 companies answer the questions of young people

At the "Long Night of Apprenticeships" this week, pupils can get a taste of companies, experience professions up close and try them out for themselves. Even the youngest are invited to take a look at jobs and ask the bosses their questions directly.

The good news is that anyone looking for an apprenticeship can choose from 1600 vacancies in Salzburg. In order to fill these, companies in three districts are opening their doors to curious pupils for one day each: during the "Long Night of Apprenticeships", young people looking for an apprenticeship can get a taste of 110 companies this week without having to register. Martina Plaschke from the Chamber of Commerce explains the idea behind it: "Perhaps someone passes by a company every day and wonders how they work there."

The plan is to explore and try things out: look over the carpenter's shoulder, build brass instruments or ask the workshop manager of the ironworks questions - young people can experience many jobs up close. Children are also welcome, there is no age limit, says Plaschke: "You can't look early enough to see what interests and talents you have and how you can use them!"

You can get a taste of the companies between 5 and 8 pm. Pinzgau starts on Tuesday, followed by Pongau on Wednesday and Lungau on Thursday. Participating businesses can be found on the website.
