Linz swimmers:
Gold in Doha in the age group 320 to 359 years
Age is no barrier to performance! The Linz swimmers of the 1st LSK Heindl, aged between 44 and 88, proved this in Doha: they also won medals in the age group 320 - 359 at the Masters World Championships! But the super oldies have also been criticized.
They returned to Linz yesterday from the richest country in the world with plenty of gold, silver and bronze in their luggage: the swimmers from 1. LSK Heindl cleaned up at the Masters World Championships in Qatar: the "gang of pensioners", consisting of five women and four men aged between 44 and 88, won four bronze medals, two silver - and two gold medals in relays in the 320 to 359 age group. The ages of the starters are added together, so the average age was at least 80.
Gold ace quietly criticizes
Wilfried Schneider, Alexander and Helga Patuzzi won the 4x50m freestyle mixed relay with Gaby Kutschera and the 4x50m mixed relay with Waltraud Wöss! "Medals at a World Championships are the dream of every athlete, regardless of age. I take my hat off to the outstanding performances and am proud that we as a club can offer swimming opportunities from the age of 4 to well over 80," said chairman Markus Dibold. However, Alexander Patuzzi (86), a successful athlete, is also quietly critical of Sportland Oberösterreich: "Since 2018, we have no longer been allowed to train in the 50m pool of the Olympic Center during the professionals' breaks, which was a big difference to the 25m pool."
