KV: Food delivery strike imminent

No food will be delivered in four provincial capitals on Thursday - because the bike messengers are taking to the barricades. 

The deadlocked situation in the collective bargaining negotiations of the bike messengers is starting to have an impact! In Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and also in Klagenfurt, employees of delivery giants such as Lieferando and Foodora are preparing for strikes: "We are already talking about a low-wage sector here - the employers don't even want to adjust salaries to inflation," explains Martina Riolo, press spokeswoman for the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB).

Therefore, after four unsuccessful rounds of negotiations, the situation would now escalate. On Thursday, March 7, a work stoppage will take place after a works meeting at 1 pm at Feldmarschall-Conrad-Platz: "At the works meetings in recent weeks, the employees have voted overwhelmingly in favor of industrial action. The Austrian Trade Union Federation has also already given strike clearance!" 

For the 35 employees in Carinthia, the 5.8 percent offered is too little: "Rolling inflation is around 8.7 percent," says the union. On Thursday, hungry Carinthians will therefore have to do without delivered food from 1pm to 3pm.
