Is Lucas Braathen making his comeback in the Alpine Ski World Cup? The Norwegian has announced an "update" for this week regarding his - explicitly sporting - future.

What exactly he announces in it is, of course, a secret, but at the same time a breeding ground for colorful speculation. A comeback as an active player does not seem completely far-fetched. Especially as Braathen at least stated in the Krone interview in Kitzbühel in January: "At the moment I'm still a little unsure, but I'm very open about my future. I want to do what makes me happiest."

Creative spirit
Nevertheless, he also said that he is creatively active at "Oakley", "I direct and help with the design. And I also do creative projects with Atomic and Red Bull."

"Pretty unhappy"
So what makes Braathen happiest? Competitive skiing itself was never a burden when he announced his retirement in October 2023 at the age of 23. "My love for skiing and ski racing was there until the end, but I was in a system, in a situation where I wasn't doing well. And I realized that I was actually pretty unhappy," Braathen told "Krone" in January.

Is he now possibly creating his own system in which he can be happy? Is he starting for another nation (i.e. not Norway)? Or is there news of a completely different nature? We'll know more in the middle of the week ...
