Seidl injured: “When life has other plans”

Combined skier Mario Seidl has posted an Instagram story from hospital following his fall at the competition in Lahti on Sunday. The man from Salzburg had only recently returned to the World Cup and now has to take another break. He reacts with gallows humor. 

"The moment when life has other plans," Seidl writes on the Insta story, which shows his injured knee. The Salzburg native suffered a fracture to his right kneecap on Sunday during a very long jump with a hard landing. A ligament injury is also suspected.

Further examinations
After initial treatment in a Finnish hospital, he was transported back to Austria. Further examinations will take place here on Monday.

An additional MRI examination will provide information on whether other ligaments in the knee have been affected. Seidl, who is often plagued by injuries, only recently returned to the World Cup team after a lengthy illness.
