Thomas Tuchel on Eberl: Criticism instead of euphoria
FC Bayern has introduced its new sporting director, Max Eberl. When asked about the new face at Säbener Straße on Thursday, coach Thomas Tuchel was not exactly bubbling over with euphoria; the 50-year-old was much more critical.
"I already know him from before. We'll see what effect he brings," was Tuchel's sober answer to the question of what he thought of the Eberl deal. A clear endorsement certainly looks different. The coach is much more bothered by the fact that the structure is changing again. "It's the third time we've rewritten the organization chart. And again before an important Bundesliga game - that's not without its problems," Tuchel made clear at the press conference ahead of the upcoming match against Freiburg (Friday, 8.30pm).
All new
It was only at the start of the season that Munich appointed Christoph Freund and Jan-Christian Dreesen as sporting director and CEO respectively, after the club had dismissed Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn a few months previously.
Tuchel will therefore have another functionary for his final months in office. Before he too has to pack his bags at the end of the season ...
