Knee in the face! Goalie resuscitated on the field
Scary hours for St. Veit's soccer goalkeeper Alex Bodner (21). After a duel in a test match, he ended up in intensive care.
"We were in shock!", says Michi Salbrechter, section manager of the lower league East leaders SC St. Veit. What had happened? During a test match in the Jacques-Lemans-Arena, a Sörg striker thundered his knee into the face of St.... Veit goalkeeper Alexander Bodner. Dramatic scenes followed. . .
In an artificial deep sleep
Bodner stopped moving, the coaches and spectators rushed to him - and began resuscitation efforts. Especially as the 21-year-old no longer had a pulse, was turning blue and suffered an epileptic seizure. When Bodner was breathing again, the helicopter arrived and took him to Klagenfurt Hospital, where he was put into artificial deep sleep in the intensive care unit. Fortunately, he woke up again a few hours later.
"Thank you to my lifesavers!"
"I can't remember anything, I just have a concussion and a few stitches in my mouth and tongue," the St. Veiter told the "Krone" - and he emphasized: "Thanks to my lifesavers - without you, I wouldn't still be here or have permanent damage. I'm fine now."
