96th Academy Awards
Ryan Gosling & Billie Eilish sing “Barbie” songs
Hollywood star Ryan Gosling is among the musicians who will be singing on stage at this year's Oscar Gala. The Film Academy in Los Angeles announced on Wednesday which artists will perform the five nominated songs in the "Best Original Song" category.
Gosling, who is nominated for an Oscar for his Ken role as Best Supporting Actor in "Barbie", will perform the song "I'm Just Ken" together with songwriter and producer Mark Ronson.
Singer Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell will perform their "Barbie" song "What Was I Made For?".
Jon Batiste and Becky G will also be at the Oscars
Jon Batiste (with the song "It Never Went Away" from the film "American Symphony"), Becky G ("The Fire Inside" from "Flamin' Hot") and Scott George with the Osage Singers ("Wahzhazhe" from "Killers of the Flower Moon") will also be on stage.
Eilish and O'Connell had presented their song "No Time To Die" from the Bond film "No Time To Die" on the Oscar stage in 2022 and then also won the award for Best Song.
Gosling song wins Oscar
Gosling had already attracted attention as a singer in 2017 with the film musical "La La Land". The song "City Of Stars", sung by the lead actors Gosling and Emma Stone, won the Oscar back then. However, the duo did not perform live on the show, with R&B star John Legend performing the piano ballad instead.
The Oscar Academy recently announced the first celebrity helpers for the trophy gala on March 10, including Al Pacino, Zendaya, Nicolas Cage, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jamie Lee Curtis and Michelle Yeoh. They will be handing out prizes as "presenters". The 96th Academy Awards will be hosted by comedian and presenter Jimmy Kimmel.
