Fire in asylum home in Bavaria: 1 dead, 3 injured
A man has died in a fire at an asylum home in Nördlingen in Bavaria. A five-year-old boy is said to have been playing with a lighter and started the fire.

However, the man had lived in the neighboring house and, according to initial findings, was not in the accommodation. An autopsy should provide clarity.
Initial investigations indicated that a boy (5) was playing with a lighter in the accommodation and started the fire.
Twelve other residents suffered minor to serious injuries in the fire. Those affected suffered smoke inhalation and external injuries, among other things, the police said. Some of the injured were treated in hospitals.
The accommodation was so badly damaged by the fire that it would have to be demolished, a police spokesperson told Die Zeit. The residents would be housed in a hall for the time being. The district administration is trying to find alternative accommodation.
