Tyrolean woman (51) critically injured in fire

Firefighters were called out to the Tyrolean capital on Saturday evening! A kitchen fire had broken out in an apartment. One of the neighbors rescued the occupant (51), whom he found on the floor, from the flames. Nevertheless, she was critically injured.

The incident occurred shortly before 10.30 pm. The fire broke out in an apartment building in Innsbruck. "Witnesses could see thick, black smoke and set the rescue chain in motion", according to the investigators. One of the neighbors kicked in the apartment door and found the 51-year-old lying on the floor. When the firefighters arrived, the kitchen was already on fire. 

The apartment was a total loss. Investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing.

Ten more people taken to hospital
The professional fire department was finally able to bring the flames under control. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital in Innsbruck, but is now out of danger. Ten other residents were also taken to hospital on suspicion of smoke inhalation. The apartment was a total loss. The reason for the outbreak of the fire is still completely unclear. Further investigations will follow.
