Piste rescuers called in
Eight-year-old seriously injured in skiing accident in Tyrol
The series of serious skiing accidents in Tyrol continues unabated: After a whole series of operations at the weekend, the piste rescuers were also in constant use on Wednesday. Once again, several people were injured. In Sölden (Imst district), a collision ended fatally for an eight-year-old Dutch girl.
The holidaying girl was skiing down the Giggijoch on blue piste number 15 at around 2 pm on Wednesday. After a steep slope, the schoolgirl collided almost head-on with a 47-year-old German woman. "The eight-year-old was seriously injured and flown to hospital in Zams by emergency helicopter," said the police. The German girl remained uninjured.
Serious fall with serious consequences
In a second skiing accident in Ötztal shortly beforehand, a 33-year-old woman was seriously injured. The German woman was skiing in the Hochoetz ski area at around 1.20 pm. A 19-year-old Dutch woman fell on the slope, slid 50 meters downhill and collided with the 33-year-old. While the 19-year-old remained uninjured, the 33-year-old was seriously injured in the subsequent fall. She was rescued by the piste rescue team and also taken to Zams Hospital by ambulance.
Crashed into a piste marker
The piste rescuers were also called out in Zillertal: At around 8.45 am on Wednesday, a 74-year-old Austrian skier lost control of his skis on a steep section of the black marked piste number 7 in the Hochzillertal ski area and subsequently crashed into a piste marker pole on the side. The winter sports enthusiast was seriously injured and flown by rescue helicopter to the district hospital in Schwaz.
Woman lost consciousness
And at around 1.45 pm, a German woman (62) and a 13-year-old Dutchman collided in the Hintertux ski area. In the area of the so-called Schwarze Pfanne, the 62-year-old made a turn to the left in a narrow section and crashed into the teenager. Both crashed. "The woman briefly lost consciousness on impact with the slope and was subsequently flown by rescue helicopter to Schwaz district hospital," said the police. The Dutchman remained uninjured.
