Sad news from the hospital in Innsbruck: an 86-year-old local man, who was seriously injured in a skiing accident in the Axamer Lizum (Innsbruck-Land district) almost two weeks ago, died on Monday as a result.
The terrible accident occurred on February 6 in the Axamer Lizum ski area. According to the police, the 86-year-old local was skiing downhill on the Schönboden slope when he collided with a British snowboarder (24).
Injuries were too severe
Both winter sports enthusiasts fell. "The 86-year-old sustained serious injuries in the accident and was flown by rescue helicopter to Innsbruck Hospital, where he died on Monday," reported the police on Tuesday afternoon.
The public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck ordered an autopsy.
