Pyrotechnics in the playground: three hobbyists injured

Experimenting with pyrotechnics - not a good idea! And extremely dangerous, as an incident in the Tyrolean lowlands has now shown. Three teenagers suffered burns when setting off a homemade firecracker. One even had to be transferred from hospital to the Innsbruck clinic.

The serious incident occurred on Sunday in the municipality of Niederndorf in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein. At around 5.30 pm, the police received a report that several young people had set off a pyrotechnic object in a playground in the afternoon. Three young people had suffered burns.

Police speak of "self-laboratory"
According to a police spokesperson, the object was a so-called "self-made laboratory product", i.e. a pyrotechnic mixture that the youths had made themselves.

The exact course of the incident is currently still the subject of extensive investigations.
