A US-American woman believes that she has only reached the age of 109 thanks to her marriage breakdown. She told a camera crew that she had "no annoying husband in her life".

It's a statement against true love, and yet it's going around the world! A US camera crew from local TV station WJZ visited 109-year-old Jennie Libertini in a retirement home in the state of Maryland.

What she then revealed as the secret of her old age sounded highly unromantic: "No annoying man in my life. And it's only thanks to my marriage breakdown that I'm 109 years old."

Worked for the ministry
Libertini was born in Baltimore in 1915 as the daughter of Sicilian immigrants. She made history as the first woman hired by the newly created Pension Insurance Ministry in the 1930s. She married and had a son named Michael.

"Bingo party" for her birthday
Libertini lived in a shared flat with a friend until she was 105 years old. After her friend died, she moved into an assisted living home. There, the elderly single woman loves to play bingo regularly. Which is why she wanted a "bingo party" for her birthday. Well then, happy birthday!
