Power outage
Power plant damaged in Russian attack
According to Ukrainian reports, the city of Dnipro was attacked with a missile and several drones. A power plant was damaged and the water supply was partially interrupted. There are said to have been no casualties.
The governor of the region, Serhij Lysak, reported that the energy infrastructure had been hit. Ten drones over Dnipro in central Ukraine had been destroyed. The projectiles are said to have come from several directions.
The company DTEK announced that the water supply had to be partially shut down due to power outages. According to the governor, however, the power has since been restored. The air force stated that it had intercepted 16 of a total of 23 drones.
Both the Russian and Ukrainian military have stepped up their air strikes away from the front line in recent months. They have repeatedly targeted critical energy, military and transportation infrastructure.
After a long back and forth, a majority in the US Senate voted in favor of billions in aid for Ukraine on Tuesday. 70 of the 1000 US senators voted in favor, 29 against. The bill now goes to the other chamber of parliament, the House of Representatives. It remains to be seen whether the package will be passed there (see video above).
