Rescue from a stream
Senior citizen with rollator fell while feeding ducks
Cries for help from the Impfbach stream called two witnesses to the scene, who became lifesavers on Thursday. They found a senior citizen in the water who had fallen while feeding ducks, complete with walking frame. A helper undressed and climbed into the freezing cold water to help the pensioner.
The 96-year-old senior citizen was feeding ducks at the Ipfbach in Asten at around 1 pm on Thursday. She was alone and nobody saw her lose her balance with her walking frame and fall forwards into the stream.
Helpers didn't hesitate for a second
Two passers-by, a 21-year-old and a 60-year-old, heard the pensioner's cries for help and didn't hesitate for a second. They rushed to the victim, who somehow managed to keep her head above water.
The younger man held her by the arm, while the 60-year-old ventured into the icy water, where the air temperature was barely ten degrees and the water was even colder, to pull the 96-year-old to the shore. She was then taken to Kepler University Hospital by ambulance. There is no danger to life.
