Hit-and-run driver thought he had hit a stone

The traffic accident in Eugendorf (Salzburg) on Monday has been cleared up: a 65-year-old man from Flachgau turned himself in to the police after reading about the accident in media reports. He thought his car had only collided with a stone. 

The elderly gentleman contacted the police on Tuesday. An inspection of his damaged car matched the signs of the accident. He will be charged with negligent bodily harm.

Schoolboy was riding a moped
On Monday evening in Eugendorf, the 65-year-old from Flachgau had hit a 15-year-old boy with his car when turning onto the Obertrumer Landesstraße in Eugendorf. The schoolboy was riding a moped, crashed and sustained injuries of indeterminate severity.

However, the man drove on. He now told the police that he thought he had only collided with a stone. He had learned about the consequences of the accident from the media coverage.
