Body found in the canal: Man (38) arrested

After body parts of a man were recently found in the Marchfeld Canal, the police arrested a suspect (38) in the district of Mistelbach on Tuesday.

As the Vienna police announced on Wednesday, the suspicion against a 38-year-old man hardened. He was arrested on Tuesday at 1 pm in the district of Mistelbach on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the Vienna police. The suspect is said to be a native of Iran. He is said to be responsible for the death of his compatriot. 

Victim was a father from Hietzing
It was on January 13 when a fisherman discovered human remains in the water in Vienna-Floridsdorf. The investigation into the discovery of the body immediately got into full swing. Further body parts were quickly found by the detectives.

It turned out that the victim was a 45-year-old man from Hietzing. The father of the family was allegedly first beaten to death, then dismembered and disposed of in the Marchfeld Canal.
