Salzburg’s innkeepers pay because of special regulations

The attack on tips by the health insurance fund is not nationwide. Only Salzburg and two other federal states are affected. The Chamber of Commerce knew about the special regulations from the outset. There is therefore criticism of a lack of transparency. 

The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) has taken action and is demanding social security contributions on tips. Up to seven years back, it is mainly innkeepers who are at risk of having to pay large sums of money. The "Krone" has reported. It has now emerged that Salzburg has a special position - because this rule does not apply throughout Austria.
