Chelsea? Lukaku spills the beans: “They wear you down”

The memories of his time at Chelsea FC are not exactly the most positive. Romelu Lukaku has now spoken to the "Corriere dello Sport" about his final months with the "Blues". "They wear you down," was the Belgian's conclusion.

Lukaku played for Chelsea FC on and off until 2024 before moving to Napoli for €30 million in the summer. He was no longer happy at Stamford Bridge in recent years, as he now explained: "It wasn't just me at Chelsea. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hakim Ziyech were no longer part of the project either. So we were instructed to only change in the youth team changing rooms."

"Then you have no chance"
The club had clearly told Lukaku that they wanted to get rid of him. "But if you want to leave and have good reasons to do so, then you don't stand a chance. It's dragged out to the end, they wear you down."

Chelsea FC have also influenced the media, Lukaku continued. "Clubs have relationships with the media and it's easy to put a player in a difficult position or paint the wrong picture of him. I've experienced things I never thought I would," says Lukaku, leaving few good memories of his time in England.

Things are currently going much better for Lukaku in Italy, where the left-footer has scored ten times in 28 competitive appearances for Napoli and also contributed nine assists. The "Azzurri" are just one point behind league leaders Inter Milan in Serie A.
