"Women want to be asked whether they want to take on responsibility and not look pretty for the image," says Manuela Khom, the new women's representative and deputy governor of Styria. What she thinks of the controversial "stove bonus" and how she pushed through a women's quota in the ÖVP.

"Krone": Ms. Khom, you are the second woman to head the Styrian ÖVP. Like Waltraud Klasnic, you took over the party after an election failure. Why is it that women always get the chance then?
Manuela Khom: I don't think it's always the case, but perhaps we women tend to take on more responsibility in difficult situations.
