Mary enchants Finland with historical jewels

An appearance straight out of a fairy tale! Queen Mary of Denmark caused a royal sensation at the glamorous white-tie dinner in Helsinki: for the first time in over 140 years, two historical pieces of jewelry from the royal treasury were presented to the public again!

The Danish queen appeared in a breathtaking, beaded lace dress with a floral pattern and interwoven gold threads - but it was the precious jewels that caught everyone's attention.

Queen Caroline Amalie's golden bandeau tiara and Princess Wilhelmine of Denmark's Vesuvius stone bracelet - relics from a bygone era that now shone in new splendor.

The Danish court officially confirmed that these extraordinary pieces were last worn over a century ago - a moment of priceless historical value for royal jewelry lovers.

Many similarities
Mary and King Frederik were received by Finland's President Alexander Stubb and his wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb, who welcomed the royal couple with typical Nordic hospitality. In his speech, King Frederik recalled the similarities between the countries. Finland and Norway are like siblings, he said.

"We also have long winters in common. Yours is a little longer than ours. When the frost sets in, our winter life begins. When the sea slumbers under the ice and life on the forest floor goes into hibernation, we are off and running."

Romantic sleigh ride in Lapland
But the state visit didn't just start with glamor - before going into protocol, the Danish royals treated themselves to a romantic sleigh ride through the snow-covered Lapland in Saariselkä. A magical start to a visit that will bring Finland and Denmark even closer together.
