Two second places followed first World Cup victory

In the Italian winter sports resort of Bardonecchia, three World Cup Super-Gs were on the program from Tuesday to Thursday. There were seven victories for the Ski Austria athletes, including a premiere win in the standing class.

In the visually impaired class, the Aigner siblings were once again in a class of their own. Veronika Aigner (with guide Elisabeth Aigner) and Johannes Aigner (with guide Nico Haberl) took a total of six victories and stood on the top step of the podium on all three days.

Head coach Manfred Widauer was also delighted with the great performances in the standing class. Thomas Volgger from Salzburg followed up two second places with the first World Cup victory of his career. Markus Salcher (4th, 7th and 9th) and Manuel Rachbauer (10th) also ensured four more top ten places in Piedmont.

"I'm going to celebrate a bit"
Volgger was jubilant: "Those were three super days in Bardonecchia! The steep and challenging slope suited me very well, I was able to really push the skis down. After two second places, I'm naturally delighted that I managed to secure my first victory at the end - I'll be celebrating that a little today."
