A gang of ATM blasters from Holland is currently keeping the police in Vienna on their toes: this year, the fourth ATM has already been blown up: the latest case occurred on Saturday at 3.35 a.m. in Guglgasse in Simmering. The method used by the perpetrators is always the same: they build the explosive devices on fireworks.

Simple but effective: the gang is supposed to take apart ball bombs for their explosive devices and misuse them for their criminal activities. Ball bombs are category F4 fireworks; an official permit and a pyrotechnics pass are required to purchase, possess and use them.

The firework rockets are then used to make explosive devices that cause extensive damage to ATMs and buildings, as the pictures impressively show.

Police ask for witnesses
The perpetrators are believed to be a four-man Dutch gang of North African origin. An immediate manhunt has so far been unsuccessful. 

The police are asking witnesses to come forward if the unknown perpetrators appear suspicious to them during or after the escape. Information (also anonymous) is requested from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office on 01-31310-33800.
