First e-container stacker at the Port of Hamburg

A fully electric reach stacker will be used for the first time at the Port of Hamburg. According to the economic authority, it is the first reach stacker in Germany to be powered without an internal combustion engine.

The vehicles, also known as reach stackers, can lift containers with a telescopic arm and are used in the port for handling and stacking. The all-electric model from the manufacturer Sany impressed during a test phase in port operations, according to the company C. Steinweg, which intends to use the vehicle on the Kamerunkai.

Stacker requires less maintenance
According to the manufacturer, the reachstacker is equipped with a 422 kWh lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) battery. A full battery charge lasted eight to ten hours "in tough handling operations", with performance comparable to vehicles with combustion engines. In addition to lower emissions, the all-electric reach truck is also quieter and requires less maintenance, according to the company.
