EU membership: What do you think?

According to a recent survey, support for EU membership among the Austrian population has fallen to 60 percent. This is the second-lowest figure since accession in 1995. At the same time, the proportion of those in favor of leaving the EU has risen to 25 percent. What advantages and disadvantages do you personally see in our EU membership? Despite the alarming figures, it is also clear that identification with Europe has increased, although many feel that the EU itself is weak and insecure. Frequently perceived disadvantages include the high costs incurred by the contributions to the EU budget and the restriction of sovereignty. The issue of migration or the perceived excessive bureaucracy are also a thorn in the side of many. On the other hand, there is the economic upturn resulting from the free movement of goods, Austria's financial support through EU subsidies and projects, political participation and, of course, the freedom to travel.
