Tragic fire on Thursday morning in St. Andrä in Lavanttal (Carinthia): A kennel went up in flames for as yet unknown reasons - there was no rescue for a total of nine four-legged friends. 

It only took six minutes for the fire department to arrive. However, there was nothing more the firefighters could do for the nine four-legged friends. The building was already fully engulfed in flames at this point.

Using heavy breathing apparatus, they tried to get into the building to rescue the dogs. But it was impossible: parts of the roof had already collapsed, threatening to fall down completely.

Criminologists investigate
The firefighters had to withdraw. They "only" had the task of bringing the fire under control. According to experts, the dogs, which were in the boarding kennel for the day or on vacation, are likely to have died of smoke inhalation. Fire experts from the State Office of Criminal Investigation are searching for the cause of the devastating fire.
