Netflix relaunches TV series “Our Little Farm”

Netflix wants to remake the once globally successful TV series "Our Little Farm". The story of a pioneering American family in the late 19th century was a hit more than 40 years ago. The streaming provider describes the story as a family and survival drama about the hardships and successes of the settlers.

The TV series with the original title "Little House on the Prairie" flickered across American screens from 1974 to 1983. "Bonanza" star Michael Landon played the leading role of farmer Charles Ingalls, who runs a small farm in the north of America with his family.

The story is based on the semi-biographical children's books by US author Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867-1957), who published eight works from 1932 to 1943 about her childhood and youth with three sisters. The books sold millions of copies.

Who will succeed Landon?
The showrunner of the announced series is Rebecca Sonnenshine ("The Vampire Diaries"). As a five-year-old, she fell in love with these books, Sonnenshine told Netflix. These stories inspired her to become a writer and filmmaker. The casting of the roles was not initially revealed.
