Dispute with fan: Hinteregger goes to court

Former team player Martin Hinteregger, who is on the verge of a comeback, must stand trial after his alleged attack on a fan. According to a report in the Kleine Zeitung (Wednesday edition), the public prosecutor's office in Klagenfurt has filed a criminal complaint for assault against the 32-year-old.

Hinteregger is said to have pushed a man to the ground last September when he was coach of SGA Sirnitz (scene in the video below). This brought a criminal complaint against the footballer.

Verdict on February 19
Eyewitnesses are said to prove Hinteregger's action. The ex-international, who is now about to return to the Bundesliga with Austria Klagenfurt, is accused of assault; according to the report, the criminal complaint was filed with the Völkermarkt district court.

The verdict is expected on February 19. Hinteregger is presumed innocent.

Hinteregger's lawyer Arthur Berger told the Kleine Zeitung: "After my client was provoked and insulted throughout the match, he regrettably allowed himself to get carried away with a shove." Hinteregger is very sorry for the action. An expert appointed by the court will clarify how seriously the fan in question was actually injured.
