Fire in a false ceiling: residents fled outside

The sirens were blaring in Neustift in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley on Monday night. The fire department had to be called out due to a fire in the false ceiling of a building. The residents escaped with a scare.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 am. The reason was a heavy smoke development in the building. A local resident (57) had noticed it. "She woke the other residents who were already asleep", according to the police.

All five residents were able to leave the building before the fire department arrived.

Meanwhile, another resident set the rescue chain in motion. "All five residents were able to leave the building before the fire department arrived." The firefighters were able to determine that the fire had started in a false ceiling. "They opened it up and extinguished the smouldering fire."

Extinguishing work lasted until 3.30 am
The extinguishing work lasted until shortly before 3.30 am. The residents were then able to return to the building. Further investigations into the exact cause of the fire will follow on Monday. The Neustift im Stubaital volunteer fire department was deployed with 32 people and six vehicles.
