Political hike: “The work is done by the rank and file!”

Times are changing and there seems to be a slow turnaround in the government. The resignation of Chancellor Nehammer has triggered a drastic political shift in the ÖVP, the federal government and numerous federal states. Many users in our forum are looking forward to change, while others are less optimistic about the future.

The ÖVP is making big losses in its ranks. At least seven politicians (including Nehammer, Polaschek, Schallenberg etc.) are leaving their posts or changing jobs. Some of the empty seats will be filled by new faces, old acquaintances and FPÖ politicians such as Herbert Kickl. Some readers are already grumbling, while others insist on giving the new government a chance. 

"We are miles away from a democracy!"
It is debatable whether the new posts will do their job well and correctly. We can only be confident. A bigger problem for our users is the lengthy process of forming a government. However, some voices are happy that those with the most votes will finally come to power.

"In reality, it doesn't matter what the chancellor's name is!" 
 A widespread impression among our users is that they no longer believe that politics stands for the interests of the people. It seems to be all about posts, votes and the image of the parties. The real work is done by the rank and file.
