Cell phone rang: Accident with three injured in Tyrol

Serious traffic accident on Wednesday morning in the Tyrolean Ötztal! Because his cell phone rang, a Bosnian (55) drove into the oncoming lane on the B186 and crashed into a family's car. Three people were injured.

At around 10 a.m., a local man (21) was driving his car into the valley on the Ötztalstraße in Tumpen. His 50-year-old father was in the front passenger seat and his 44-year-old mother was sitting in the back seat.

Bosnian (55) briefly distracted
At the same time, a 55-year-old Bosnian man was driving his car in the opposite direction on the B186. "Suddenly, the Bosnian was distracted by the ringing of his cell phone, drove his car into the oncoming lane and collided with the 21-year-old's car," said the police.

Both vehicles are wrecked
The 21-year-old, his 44-year-old mother and the 55-year-old Bosnian were seriously injured in the accident. They were taken to hospital in Zams by ambulance. "The 50-year-old Austrian remained uninjured," said the police. Both cars were totaled. The B186 was completely closed to all traffic for around an hour.
