Hundreds bid farewell to Androsch in Altaussee

Funeral service in Altaussee for a famous son, politician and investor. Many celebrities bid farewell to Hannes Androsch, who died at the age of 86.  

Memorial service for a great and dazzling figure of the Second Republic. Hundreds of celebrities came to Ausseerland (Styria) on Friday to bid farewell to Hannes Androsch. The industrialist and former SPÖ Finance Minister and Vice-Chancellor passed away on December 11 at the age of 86.

Top entrepreneur Androsch was constantly active until the end - also in his critical analyses of domestic politics. The solemn memorial service was initiated to "commemorate the patron and investor and pay tribute to him in gratitude". By the municipality of Altaussee under Mayor Gerald Loitzl.

Celebrities and greetings from the Federal President 
The funeral service for "Kreisky's crown prince" began with a procession from the Amtshaus to the parish church, accompanied by the Salinenmusikkapelle, the volunteer fire department and a delegation from the Workers' Samaritan Association.

In addition to the star actor Klaus Maria Brandauer from Altaussee, political celebrities were also present. These included the Third President of the National Council Doris Bures (SPÖ), NEOS leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger and the former Styrian governor Hermann Schützenhöfer (ÖVP). The new deputy governor Manuela Khom and FPÖ provincial councillor Stefan Hermann were also present.

An hour-long memorial service with speeches was held in the parish church. Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen sent his greetings.
