Sea of flames rages in house: neighbor raises the alarm

Dramatic scenes in the Wolfsberg district on Thursday night: a neighbor raises the alarm because a blaze is raging in the house next door. The emergency services quickly fear the worst.  

The attentive neighbor (40) discovered the sea of flames at around 02:40 and immediately set the rescue chain in motion. When the alerted fire department finally arrived a short time later, the detached house was already fully engulfed in flames inside; the fire had obviously broken out hours earlier.

The emergency services prepared for the worst - because at this point it was not yet clear whether the occupants were in the house. However, another neighbor was able to give the all-clear shortly afterwards. According to her statement, the tenants were busy settling and had left the house at around 7:30 pm.

Fire experts investigate
The fire department brought the fire under control and was able to prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings. However, the detached house was badly damaged. According to the authorities, it is still unclear why the fire broke out and the actual extent of the damage. The Carinthian State Office of Criminal Investigation is investigating.
