Face stapled! Donnarumma shows nasty wound

Nasty scene in the top match of Ligue 1 between Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain (2:4): PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had been caught with his studs by Monaco's Wilfried Singo and his face had to be stapled. After the game, the goalkeeper showed his serious wound.

As reported by krone.at, the French clash between Monaco and Paris Sarint-Germain on Wednesday evening was a fast-paced affair. Just over a quarter of an hour into the game, Monaco's Singo failed to catch the ball properly with an attempted lob, but caught Paris goalkeeper Donnarumma with full force - and with the studs in his face.

Horror among the spectators. "Oh, oh. That doesn't look good," said DAZN commentator David Ploch. Donnarumma lay dazed, his face had to be stapled. The game ended early for him. Afterwards, a photo of Donnarumma's injury made the rounds online. It shows the nasty wound on his face.

Red for Hütter
Despite the early shock to Donnarumma, PSG ran out 4-2 winners in the end. After the 16th round, the unbeaten top club have a ten-point lead over Monaco, who temporarily remain third in the table.

Monaco coach Adi Hütter was shown a red card in stoppage time for criticizing the referee.
