Jim Carey: “I bought quite a lot of stuff”

US comedian Jim Carrey (62) had actually planned to retire from the film industry. The resolution lasted exactly two years. "You know, I've bought quite a lot of stuff and I need the money - quite honestly," he said now.

"I've done enough. I'm done," Carrey announced just two years ago. However, he already left himself a back door open. "If the angels bring in some script that's written in gold ink that tells me it's really important for people to see this. Maybe I'll keep going."

Now the Canadian-American actor got serious. In the video game adaptation "Sonic the Hedgehog 3", he once again slipped into the role of the mad scientist Ivo Robotnik, arch-enemy of hedgehog Sonic. The second part grossed around 380 million euros worldwide, and the third can soon be seen in cinemas in German-speaking countries - in Austria from December 21.

When Carrey was asked whether the script had been written in gold ink, he replied in the negative. He had probably exaggerated at the time and simply needed the money.

In fact, the comedian was probably joking. After all, his fortune is estimated at around 285 million euros. Carrey has never been known for his excessive lifestyle and lives a secluded life just outside Los Angeles. In his free time, he likes to paint pictures and draw comics.
