Drunk driver crashes into guardrail on highway

Someone must have been too drunk: A 56-year-old car driver lost control on the Inntal highway (A12) in the Tyrolean Oberland on Wednesday evening and crashed his car into the crash barrier. The local man suffered injuries - a breathalyzer test was positive.

The 56-year-old was driving on the Inntalautobahn from Innsbruck towards Oberland at around 9 p.m. when he lost control of the car at Kematen. "The driver veered too far to the right, drove over a barrier in the area of a parking lot and skidded as a result," said the police.

The driver tested positive for alcohol.

Injured man taken to hospital by ambulance
In the end, the local man's car crashed into the crash barrier. The man suffered injuries due to the force of the impact. After first aid on the scene, he was taken to the Innsbruck hospital by ambulance.

"A breathalyzer test carried out on the driver was positive," the investigators continued. In addition to the emergency services, the fire department, the police and the Asfinag road service were also deployed.
