18-year-old wanted to show off to friends with flowers

A young man ordered counterfeit money worth around 4000 euros via a Chinese website. Now he had to stand trial for counterfeiting money. He received a conditional prison sentence. 

"I've always been a good kid", an 18-year-old man claimed in court in St. Pölten. He had only ordered the counterfeit money amounting to almost 4000 euros to "show off to friends". What's more, after ordering 198 counterfeit 20 euro bills on a Chinese website in June, he had a change of heart two months later.

Judgment is already final
"I knew it was illegal," he tried to cancel his mistake by email. He had already paid around 18 euros for it. According to the National Bank, the "confusable" flowers were then intercepted by customs. The 18-year-old has now received a legally binding five-month conditional prison sentence. He was also assigned a probation officer.
