Fake police: wave of fraud sweeps across Tyrol!

The Tyrolean police issued a warning to the population on Tuesday afternoon. There are currently an increasing number of calls throughout the country from fraudsters pretending to be police officers or detectives. Relatives should be warned!

"The fraudsters are pretending to be police officers or detectives on the phone and trying to lure out cash and valuables. Protect yourself and warn your relatives", was the appeal from the executive.

How you can protect yourself
As such scams occur time and again, sometimes resulting in enormous losses, the police have some tips.

• Break off such phone calls immediately. Do not get involved in any discussions and make it clear to your counterpart that you will not accept any of the demands/offers.
• Ask for a call-back number for the caller.
• Do not let anyone you do not know into your house or apartment. Use the intercom system to make contact or use the door security chain or security bar.
• If you receive such a call, report it to the nearest police station.

Do not allow yourself to be put under pressure
Once again, the real police would never ask for money or inquire about assets. The real police would also never come to someone's home to take money or valuables. Victims should never allow themselves to be put under pressure by callers.
