Liverpool are still unstoppable on matchday six of the Champions League. Mohamed Salah had to do it from the penalty spot against a valiantly fighting Girona. The golden goal of the evening gave Liverpool their sixth win in six matches. Meanwhile, the game between Dinamo Zagreb and Celtic Glasgow ended without any goals.

On paper, Liverpool started the game as clear favorites and had a top chance through Joe Gomez. Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was able to defuse his header (4th). The Spaniards then acted courageously, disrupted their opponents early on and were able to keep the game open. Daley Blind first missed a double chance from the best position, while Alejandro Frances' follow-up shot was saved by Alisson Becker (12).

The two goalkeepers remained in the spotlight. Gazzaniga produced a foot save from a Nunez shot (35') and Becker made a fine save from an Asprilla shot (38'). A few seconds after the restart, Arnaut Danjuma again failed to beat Liverpool's goalkeeper, and a little later the attacking player was not rewarded for a fine dribble (49). At the other end, Andy Robertson failed to score (59). The decisive factor in the end was a penalty foul by Donny van de Beek on Luis Diaz in the penalty area, which was awarded after a VAR review. Salah deceived Gazzaniga and tucked the ball safely into the corner.

Celtic miss out on victory in Zagreb
It was the 32-year-old Egyptian's 16th goal in his 22nd competitive game of the current season, as he once again campaigned for a contract extension beyond the summer. Liverpool secured their 19th win in their 22nd competitive game under coach Arne Slot after the cancellation of the league derby at Everton at the weekend due to the weather. 

There were no goals in the clash between mid-table Dinamo Zagreb and Celtic Glasgow. The Croatian team of ex-Austria coach Nenad Bjelica now have eight points, while the Scots, with ex-Rapidler Nicolas Kühn in attack, have one point more to their name.
