Drunk woman in dark clothing hit by car

A terrible accident early Sunday evening in Innsbruck: a drunk woman in dark clothing was hit by a car while crossing the four-lane Haller Straße. The 19-year-old was thrown onto the road and suffered serious injuries.

The terrible accident happened at around 6.30 p.m. on Haller Straße just after the Mühlau bridge. An 18-year-old local man was traveling east in his car. At the same time, the young woman was crossing the four-lane main road there.

"Due to her dark clothing, the driver of the car was unable to recognize the pedestrian in time. There was a collision", is how the police describe the course of the accident. The 19-year-old - also a local - fell onto the road and suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle and an uninvolved witness immediately provided first aid.

The driver of the car and a passer-by immediately provided first aid and set the rescue chain in motion. After first aid, the woman was taken to Innsbruck Hospital. There she was found to be "considerably intoxicated", according to the investigators, who are still looking for witnesses to the accident.
