26 were flawless

Bratwurst sausages passed inspection

Tomorrow, Sunday, many of our fellow countrymen and women will be eating their traditional bratwurst sausages. Just in time for the first Sunday in Advent, extensive quality controls were carried out by the Upper Austrian Food Inspection Authority.

In October and November, the testers took a total of 30 samples of sausages directly from the producers and brought them to AGES for testing. The results left the testers happy. Not a single sample was rejected due to hygiene deficiencies. In fact, 26 of the samples were hygienically flawless. An elevated germ content was detected in four of the sausages tested, albeit below the limit value.

"Controls are having an effect"
"It is pleasing that the number of complaints about food that is not suitable for consumption is at a very low level. The inspection and advisory activities of the Upper Austrian Food Inspectorate, particularly with regard to industrial hygiene, are clearly having an effect. The traditional bratwurst sausages can therefore be enjoyed with a clear conscience," said a delighted Stefan Kaineder from the Green Party.
