Unknown man stabbed man in Bad Reichenhall

On Wednesday afternoon, a 66-year-old man was attacked and injured by a previously unknown perpetrator in the parking lot of a supermarket in Reichenbachstraße in Bad Reichenhall. The attacker then fled on foot in a westerly direction.

The police are now looking for witnesses who saw the incident. The perpetrator, described as about 160 cm tall and strong, is about 60 years old with an Eastern European accent. He was wearing a gray-green winter coat and brown trousers.

The victim suffered injuries to his upper body which required outpatient treatment in hospital. There was no danger to life at any time.

A large-scale search involving police, special forces and a helicopter has so far been unsuccessful. According to the police, there is currently no danger to the public.

The Salzburg police have checked the border area on the Austrian side, said a spokeswoman.

The Traunstein criminal investigation department is investigating and is asking witnesses for information. Anyone who witnessed the incident or can provide information about the perpetrator is asked to call the Traunstein criminal investigation department or any other police station on 0861/9873-0.
