Sex slave freed: Pimp taken out of circulation

The Romanian suspect lured a young countrywoman to Austria with false promises of a job - only to force her into sex work using violence and drugs. Now the handcuffs clicked in Völkermarkt.

The 33-year-old had lured his countrywoman to Austria with a supposedly great job in a cheese and cardboard factory, including generous pay. Once she arrived in Carinthia, however, the 18-year-old's dream of a better life was shattered - and she ended up in her own personal nightmare instead.

Tortured with food deprivation
After the suspect took all her documents, the victim was brutally attacked (two of her teeth were knocked out) and forced to do sex work in a brothel in Völkermarkt. The 18-year-old was also tortured with food deprivation and given synthetic drugs to make her submissive.

Drugs seized in the apartment
Following tip-offs, the investigators stormed the establishment and an apartment above with the help of officers from the rapid intervention group (SIG) and a service dog patrol and handcuffed the Romanian suspect (33). Around 12 grams of the drug crystal meth were also seized. The suspected human trafficker was taken to prison.
