“Abnormal”: Disastrous Salzburg astonish opponents

Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz was also taken aback by Salzburg's catastrophic performance. "I had an abnormal amount of space, much more than usual," said the match-winner after the German Bundesliga club's 5:0 victory.

Two goals and two assists - Wirtz had a great game on Tuesday evening. But the Salzburg defense didn't make it too difficult for the Leverkusen whirlwind. "I was able to use my quality, find the spaces, so it was fun," said the 21-year-old on DAZN.

"We were a bit surprised"
 "We knew about Salzburg's qualities. We were a bit surprised. I think they just didn't have their best day today. We took it well, found the spaces and then punished them ice-cold," said Wirtz. "You can't deny them their courage. We had very good pressing today, we simply made it difficult for them."

Salzburg need a miracle
In the end, the Germans celebrated a 5:0 victory over Austria's runners-up. While Leverkusen practically have promotion to the knockout phase in the bag with ten points from five games, Salzburg need a minor miracle to do so.
